Imagine a historic Sussex Tudor house set amidst seven glorious acres of grounds tucked away behind a Medieval gatehouse and moat?

Michelham Priory’s stunning Grade I listed Elizabethan Barn has a breathtaking vaulted ceiling with original oak beams which are swagged throughout with beautiful fairy lights. The perfect depiction of a Sussex barn, it has glass-fronted windows and doors looking onto a private courtyard on one side with pretty festoon lights and outside seating,  and its own private walled garden on the other perfect for lawn games and watching the sun set over the moat, drink in hand. The Barn is ideal for ceremonies and receptions of up to 130.

The Facilities

Michelham Priory is a licensed venue and so as well as inside spaces The Elizabethan Barn and Priors Chamber, it is also possible to host an al fresco ceremony. Imagine saying “i Do” beneath the apple orchard, or on the formal lawns in front of the House or the private lawns behind the Elizabethan Barn?

Ceremonies, drinks and wedding photographs for smaller weddings up to 60 can also be hosted in the Tudor Priory itself, an impressive country house. The Priors Chamber, a formal room with wood panelling and a huge fireplace with original works of art, is an intimate place for a ceremony.

Michelham Priory

Did you know that the Priory was founded by Augustinian canons in 1229, but suffered destruction during Tudor times based by the dissolution of monastries?  Michelham Priory was a home for evacuee children in the Second World War and also the Canadian Army.
